A sunday day out.

Had a great day birding today heres what I have seen.

Sandwell Valley- Golden eye x2 male and female, Carrion crow, Woodpigeon 20+, Lapwing 20+, Snipe x1 near the Lapwing, Mute swan x2 adults and 4 signets, Black headed gull 30+, Lesser black backed gull 5+, Mediterranean gull x1 on the posts with black headed gulls, Common gull x1, Tufted duck 10+, Pochard 20+, Gooseander 5+, Widgeon x3, Little grebe x1, Teal 5+, Gadwall 10+, Canada Goose 20+, Redwing 5+, Great tit 5+.

Bournville sailing pool- Black headed gull 30+, juv lesser black backed gull x1, Mallard 10+, Canada geese 5+, and also a strange white goose turned up the picture is bellow.

Thats what I have seen today.

The gull furthest to the left is the mediterranean gull it had no black primarys and a much heavier bill than a black headed gull.

  1. Bit late, but that goose is an embden I believe, a domestic breed that shows up on the pond a lot. There is currently at least one canadian/embden hybrid that shows up regularly.

  3. Sorry about that comment there was a few silly mistakes thankyou for the help with the goose but the post was posted on december 4 2011 there are many more posts to look at as well as pages. Anyway thankyou for reading and i now finally know what that goose is and i also hope that you continue to view the blog.
