Hi readers heres what birds me and my Dad saw while birding today.
RSPB Sandwell valley- Grey heron x1, Goosander x6 (all fem), Goldfinch 5+, Little grebe x3, Great crested grebe x2, Lapwing 20+, Black headed gull, Whitethroat x1, Mute swan x2 (+4 cygnets), Chiffchaff x1 (heard), Buzzard x2, Shoverla x7, swallow 5+, Herring gull (juv) x1, Kestrel x1, Jackdaw x7, Teal x2.
Gailey res- Hobby x1, Little grebe x4, Great crested grebe x4, herundines 30+. Also a family of mute swan with 2 cygnets.
Essington quarry pool- Swallow 5+, Buzzard x2, Little grebe x8, Lesser black backed gull x7, Black headed gull 50+, Mute swan x4, Green woodpecker x1, Kestrel x1, Sparrow hawk x1.
Todays star bird was the Hobby at Gailey res, the bird was hunting dragonflys on the fishing lake where it later landed in a tree where we had great views of it.
