Birding today.

Yesterday night John Holian asked me whether I would like to go out with him and Chaz Mason on the hunt for a Ferruginous duck at Dosthill, unfortunately we didn't see the duck but we did see other good birds that were around including a Long tailed Duck which is a good tick for me.

Before going to Dosthill we decided to go to Eastern Avenue in Lichfield on the hunt for a group of Waxwing. we first pulled up in front of a Charter Automotive and saw a group of around 14 Waxwing, after we had finished looking at them we went back down Eastern Avenue and was delighted to see another flock of 60-70 Waxwing near the junction of Brownsfield road and Eastern Avenue which later flew off as if they were spooked by something.

Here's the rest of our main sightings from the morning-

Eastern Avenue- Waxwing x14, Field Fair, Blackbird 5+.

Junction of Brownsfield road and Eastern Avenue- Waxwing 60-70x.

Dosthill- Woodcock x1, Goldeneye 20+, Little Egret 3 or 4x, Long tailed Duck x1 (fem), Green Sandpiper x2, Great crested Grebe  5+, Shellduck x1, Tufted Duck 50+, Grey Heron x1, Wigeon 5+, Teal x2, Coot 20+, Moorhen 10+, Gadwall 10+, Shovela 5+.

Thanks for reading.

Also thanks to John for driving us there and back.
