2012 a birding overview.

Hi all, I just thought I would do a post that gives you an overview of my birding in 2012. Its been a good birding year for me all together I have seen 17 new birds, these are-

Iceland gull- Chasewater (Staffordshire)
Pintail- RSPB Sandwell valley (West midlands)
Scaup- Gailey reservoir (Staffordshire)
Woodlark-Cannock chase (Staffordshire)
Tree pipit- Cannock chase (Staffordshire)
Crossbill- Cannock chase (Staffordshire)
Common crane- Radford meadows (Staffordshire)
Cream coloured courser- Kington golf course. (Herefordshire)
Red footed falcon- Willington gravel pits (Derbyshire)
Egyption goose- WWT slimbridge. (Gloucestershire)
Red backed shrike- Silverdale CP (high lane near blackbank). (Stoke)
Cettis warbler- RSPB Sandwell valley (West Midlands)
Osprey- Rutland water. (Rutland)
Black necked Grebe- Gailey reservoir (Staffordshire)
Great Northern Diver- Chasewater (swag) (Staffordshire)
Long tailed Duck- Dosthill (Warwickshire)
American Buff- Bellied Pipit- Queen mother reservoir (London)

Two of the rarest birds I have seen this year are the Cream coloured courser, and the American Buff- bellied Pipit, both the birds offered amazing views, at times the Pipit was around 6 foot away. I have seen a lot of birds I have wanted to see for a while this year so I will always remembers this birding year for that reason.

One of my favourite birds of the year was Osprey, my first three Ospreys were seen at Rutland water, I then saw one more at Upton Warren.

Its been a good birding year and I hope that 2013 offers the same amazing birding that 2012 has, I also want to wish you all a happy birding in 2013 and I hope that you continue to read the blog for 2013.

Thanks for reading.
