As we arrived we went straight to the sailing lake, after checking the lake the we realised the geese were not on it, we then decided to check the NW corner field where they had been spotted before and we struck lucky and the two adult White fronted Geese were in a field with Greylag and Canada Geese. Our full sightings list is as follows,
Gailey Res- White fronted Geese x2, Greylag Geese 5+, Canada Geese 10+, Coot 10+, Grey Heron x2.
After a quick look at Gailey we decided to go and have a look for the 120 Waxwings that had been on Broad Lane (Essington) near the WMC there. At first it didn't look too good, after a few minutes of looking nothing turned up. But as we parked up near the WMC we noticed large groups of birds flying back and forth over the street, this looked promising and we hoped for positive ID of the Waxwings.
But we had waited an hour without any proper sightings of the Waxwings, just before we were about to leave I turned round to check the trees behind us luckily enough there was around 30-40x Waxwing sitting in a tree oposite WMC. This really did surprise me seen as we didn't even notice them turning up and we could have missed them if we hadn't have turned round wen we did. I took a few shots of the group but due to the light they are not to good.

You can see that we had quite a large group of the birds but I later found out from John Holian that the full 120 turned up at 14:20pm which would have been an amazing sight. Today has been a good day I have had two year ticks and one lifer so I am thinking that me and Dad had a good day of birding. I may do some posts in the week but if not there should be a post either Saturday or Sunday.
Thanks for reading- WMBB
