Shortage of birdnews in some countys.

Hi readers, this post is basically a little bit of a rant about things, many of you will know that I use Staffordshire Bird News as a site to help me find what birds are around, but I notice there is no good site for bird news in some counties such as Worcestershire.

Some of you readers that have been reading my blog for a while now may notice that I have been to Upton Warren a few times and I all ways find that it pays to find out whats around on certain sites. But there is no official website for places in Worcestershire such as Upton Warren (unless you pay for it).

This does annoy me, and some of you may say why don't you do it then? well the simple answer is I could do a county site from scratch, I don't have the knowledge of Worcester birding or birders that a county site admin should have. I have already created a site for this reason for a single birding site (Swan Pool in West Brom).

To me it is crazy that to get birding news in Worcs you have to pay for it, I am aware of birders that create their own websites that tells of their birding in Worcs and other counties but that's not the entire county. One thing that sparked this strong opinion of mine is the search for the Bittern with Dad on Sunday, we were looking forward to seeing the bird and when we turned up we found it hadn't been seen for weeks!

Talking of Bitterns I have just had to turn down an offer to see one (at Belvide) due to commitments with some friends which is upsetting but I'm sure there will be other opportunities, also thank you to John Holian for the offer and sorry I had to turn it down. Sites like Staffs Bird news really makes me see that birders want to help other birders and you don't have to pay for bird news. It disappoints me to see that birders don't share their bird news in certain counties and instead they keep it to there selves and make birders pay money for the news they provide. I will admit its a good way to make money but not all ways that helpful.

I look at sites like birdguides and don't get me wrong they give great bird news but to get any sort of location you have to pay money to get that. RBA do give better news they supply the counties rare birds have been seen in but not the exact location. This is similar to birdguides but the difference is if there is a picture of the bird on RBA you can get the location.

Anyway I don't like to rant but this is a blog about my birding views and experiences so I like to share any views I have with you as my blog viewers. There should be a post on Sunday from Sandwell Valley which shouldn't get any rare birds but I like the birds that turn up on the reserve.

Thanks for reading my ranting- WMBB

P.S- if you know of any good Worcestershire birding websites please comment with the links on this post.
