Accidental sighting

Hi readers, late afternoon I went up to Bentley Bridge shopping area to get something from Sainsbury's (I know exciting), after getting what I wanted I decided to head for the bus stop to wait for the bus, after about 5 minutes I noticed a very streamline bird of prey flying over the Sainsbury's building and without any bins it was virtually impossible to identify the bird species, but I first noticed its streamline shape and my first though was Hobby but looking at the bird it wasn't small enough and still wasn't quite streamline enough in shape, my next though was Peregrine Falcon now there's no real way of me being able to say for sure whether the bird was what I thought at this point but something the bird did really made it quite likely my ID was correct. I kept my eyes on the bird even when it flew quite a distance away and it had to be near New Cross Hospital in terms of where it was flying, I then noticed near to where the bird was flying some Pigeons flying around.

Now this may seem quite normal seen as Pigeons are literally everywhere in this country but I then notice the bird of Prey dart towards the pigeons at immense speed, its wings were folded in to make it dart through the air faster. Now I know that this is a well known Peregrine hunting characteristic and that Pigeons are not really hunted by anything else when they are flying so I am going to say the bird I saw was a Peregrine Falcon  for the simple fact that the bird was the right shape and its hunting techniques perfectly fit that of a Peregrines.

I would be able to tell for definite if I had being carrying some bins with me but I didn't maybe its something I should do because if something like that happens again I will be able to tell for sure if the bird is what I think it is. But despite having no bins I am quite sure it was a peregrine there was nothing else I could really see it being. Anyway thanks for reading and there should be a post this weekend.

Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend all- WMBB
