Hi all, sorry I havent blogged lately its mainly because I just havent been able to go bird watching lately. So heres what me and dad saw today while bird watching.
RSPB Sandwell valley- Tufted suck 5+ (+ 3 ducklings on the marsh and 1 on forge mill lake), Goldfinch 10+, Common tern x2, Oystercatcher x1, Grey heron x1, Great crested grebe x2, Pochard x2, Coot 10+ (= 2 uv), Canada goose 20+, Lapwing 10+, moorhen 5+ (+ 2 juv), Swift 20+, Mute swan x2 (+ 4 signet), Buzzard x1, House martin 5+, Mallard 5+, Jackdaw 5+, Carrion crow 5+, Black headed gull 20+, Lesser black backed gull 10+ (some juv's were also flying around), Reed warbler x1.
Also The two Great crested grebes that were noted today were also displaying and then strangely they began making a nest, so I know its a little late but lets hope they breed and have a successfull brude. Also as most of you will know there was quite a large rain shower today when this heppened at RSPB Sandwell valley all the black headed gulls began lifting their heads up towards the sky. We all thought this was strange and Alf (one of the hide volunteers) noted that other people had noticed this before.
So if anyone knows as to why the Black headed gulls were doing this please notify me by either commenting on this blog post or sending me an email by the adress on the contact me page. Also its great to see that the Tufted duck chicks have finally made an appeaprance although one family only had one chick, and the other only 3 this may be because of the terrible weather we have been having.
I also didn't here the Cettis warbler today.
It would also be helpful if you could take part in my blog poll, you can do this by looking at the poll gadget above the pages title (or gadget). Please take part it would be very helpful.
Thanks for reading there should be another update within the week. :)
