Birding today.

Hi all heres what I saw today while walking round RSPB Sandwell valley.

RSPB sandwell valley- Snipe x2, Great crested grebe x2 (pair building nest), Canada goose 20+, Black headed gull 20+, Lesser black backed gull 5+, Tufted duck 5+ (also 3 ducklins on marsh), Oystercatcher x1, Coot 5+ (also 2 juv), Moorhen x3 (including 2 juv), Stock dove x2, Common tern x2, Starling x3, Cormorant x2, Lapwing 5+, Swift 10+, Mute swan x2 (also 4 signets), Swallow x1, Kingfisher x1, Grey heron x1, Mallard 10+ (also 6 ducklins), Little grebe x1 (on marsh).

Also today I took a walk down to the band stand (lake viewing area) just to check if the Cettis warbler would make an appearance (which it didn't). On my way back from the band stand I noticed a quite large bird circling in the sky. I first thought it was a crow from the shape of it but then realised it had a white rump on its tail (much like house martins do), I also noticed it flew in a simular way to a buzzard but it flapped its wings much more often than Buzzards do. SO if anyone has any idea what this bird was please help me out here thanks.

Its also been great to see SNipe on the lake today as they have been gone for quite a while.

It would also be helpful if you could answer my blog poll which is right of this blog post.

Thanks for reading.
