Hi all today me, my mate James, his grandad, and his dad went down to the WWT slimbridge reserve which gave me one new bird.
WWT slimbridge- chiff chaff x1, shellduck 30+, Egyptian goose (new one for me), Black tailed godwit x20, Shoverla 5+, Buzzard x2, Cuckoo x1, Avocett x2, Reed bunting x1, Herudines 100s, Reed warbler x2, Grey heron x3, Oystercatcher x3, Gadwall 5+.
I really enjoyed the walk around slimbridge because it offered me a new learning curve to find out more about foreign birds such as American wood duck, these ducks and geese may not have been wild but they allow me to get up close and personal to them therefore offering me the chance to learn what they look like. I felt overwelmed just to get so close to male Smew and male Goldeneye that it didnt matter if they were not wild I had the chance to get way closer to them than I would in the wild. I would strongly advise going to the reserve not just for the wildlife but for the captive life there to, there has also been 13 common cranes reported on the reserve (we didnt see them).
Also a great thanks to James for offering me onto the trip, his grandad for his birding expertise, and his dad for taking us there and for a great meal afterwoods, thanks all.
Thanks for reading
Jason
