RSPB Sandwell valley- Mute swan x2 (+4 cygnets), Great crested grebe x1, Coot 50+, Black headed gull 50+, Common sandpiper x1, Great spotted woodpecker x2, Wheatear x2, Buzzard x1, Shoverla x2, Whitethroat x1, Lapwing 20+, Tufted duck 10+, Grey heron x1, Bullfinch x2.
Today's star bird at Sandwell valley was the male Wheatear we saw (spotted by Bob Bunn). We concluded that the bird was most likely getting ready for its migration journey and in fact it was the first one I had ever seen at Sandwell Valley.
After going to Sandwell valley me and dad decided to take a look at Swan pool simply because we had been told that 3 spotted flycatchers were spotted on the horse paddocks that morning. We went to take a look and eventually saw one Spotted flycatcher which was another star bird for today. The area where the bird was was more or less exactly in line with the car park, the area where it was is a small field with trees around it. This area is cut off by a fence but you can walk down a footpath to look further along the field, look all over the hedges and tree's and with any luck you will see it.
